What’s better than one thrift sale a month? Two thrift sales a month! That’s right, Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana thrift stores are celebrating National Thrift Shop Day on Friday, August 14th with a 50% off sale!
Wait, isn’t National Thrift Shop Day actually Monday, August 17th? Yes, it is, however we can’t wait so are celebrating early and making your Friday a little more fun.
National Thrift Shop Day is the day to celebrate all the awesomeness of thrifting:

Up-cycling and Re-using
There are many benefits to up-cycling and re-using items found in a thrift store:
- Reducing what goes into a landfill.
Taking the time to make a piece new again or use it for a completely new purpose means it doesn’t end up in the trash.
- Minimizing the use of natural resources.
Did you know that it takes 2,700 liters of water to produce the cotton needed to make a single t-shirt? When you shop at a thrift store you help offset the resources used to make that item.
- One-of-a-kind items.
Everyone has something from that chain store down the road but not everyone has a unique, thrifted, vintage item. It’s a great feeling to own something that is completely unique to you.
