Why donate to Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana?
As a non-profit, we hold ourselves to high standards and use client feedback to ensure we are held accountable to our communities. At Volunteers of America, we employ approximately 1,000 professionals, all of which provide high-level resources to those who need it. Our staff comprises a vast array of administrators, caregivers, case managers, clinicians, housing experts, leaders, and psychologists throughout the region.
Volunteers of America started in the late 1800s and found its footing in the 1900s when we worked in tenement districts to provide housing and organize day nurseries and summer camps. Through the Great Depression, we started employment bureaus, soup kitchens, and “Penny Pantries.” Through the World Wars, we handled the home front by operating canteens, child care services, and community salvage operations.
