Fun & Easy Summer Craft
You can feel it in the air...summer is just around the corner! Whether you’re looking for a creative way to spice up your warm weather decorations or you need a project to keep the kids busy, in this month’s thrift blog, we have an easy DIY project anyone can do! Plus, you can find most of the materials you’ll need at VOA Thrift.
The DIY Candle Holder: We’ll use fake dried flowers for our project, but you can use glitter, pictures, or even cut-outs from magazines.
Gather your items:
- Clear Mod Podge
- A jar of any kind (this blogger loves mason jars)
- Craft brush
- Creative item add-ons like glitter, pictures, or even cut-outs from magazines
- Ribbon (if you’re feeling fancy)
Step 1: Clean your jar inside and out.
Step 2: Paint a small area with mod podge and press your flower in place. Work quickly because the mod podge dries fast.
Step 3: Paint mod podge over the flower and let it dry. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add more flowers.
Step 4: After you’ve added your flowers, paint a thin layer of mod podge over the whole jar to secure the flowers in place.
Step 5: If you’re feeling fancy, tie a ribbon around the top of the jar.
Step 6: Add your lighting element! You can use a real tea light or a faux light and leave it on.
And viola, enjoy your festive candle holder all summer long!
