VOA Thrift FAQ

If you’ve ever wondered how our donation process works at VOA Thrift, or the best times to stop by as an avid thrifter, this blog is for you! We’ve compiled a list of our frequently asked questions, so it’s all here for you when you need it.

Q: Where can I donate?
A: We offer three ways to donate! You can visit one of our thrift stores during regular store hours to drop off your donation, utilize one of our drop boxes, or schedule a pickup!

Q: Can I get a tax write-off?
A: Yes! All donations (in good condition) are tax-deductible. For your records, the Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana's Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 34-0861121.

Q: What items do you accept?
A: We accept your gently used clothing, furniture, electric appliances, flat-screen TVs, jewelry, curtains, dishes, toys, vacuum cleaners and more. To see a full list, visit our website.

Q: What cities do you pick up in?
A: We pick up from cities in Cuyahoga County, Franklin County, Licking County, Richland County and more! See a full list by visiting our website.

Q: Where do the proceeds go?
A: Proceeds of all thrift donations and purchases go toward our programs throughout Ohio and Indiana. We provide housing, veterans services, mental health treatment, residential reentry services for ex-offenders, and more . We also give thrift store vouchers to the homeless individuals, families, and veterans in our programs. 

Q: When is the 50% off sale?
A: The 50% off sale is always the last Tuesday of the month! Follow us @voathrift on Instagram and Facebook and/or sign up for our newsletter to always be in the know about our sale days!

Q: How many new items are added daily?
A: Over 40,000 new items are put out on the sales floor each week, at each location.
