Resolving to help kids succeed
How your auto auction in Columbus Ohio can help after-school programs
Did you know that the No. 1 New Year's resolution in Ohio is to "live a healthier lifestyle"? The second is to "enjoy life to the fullest." Both are noble goals, but we'd like to add one more to your list: Help children in your community by supporting Volunteers of America's after-school programs for homeless and at-risk youth.
We provide support services to homeless children through our short- and long-term housing programs and through our Youth Education Center in Columbus.
Children at the Youth Education Center, who are either homeless or have recently been homeless, are encouraged to explore their emotions, improve their communication skills and plan for their futures in a safe after-school environment. They accomplish this through career exploration, homework help and tutoring, nutritious meals, art and computer education, and other programs.
The center also offers a summer program, which keeps children safe and engaged while their parents are at work. Children in the program are exposed to a mix of fun and educational activities, such as pizza-making, visits from the CD102.5 Ice Cream Truck, art projects and lessons that address reading and math skills. With an action-packed summer like that, kids in our program have a leg up when classes resume in the fall.
Search "donate my car" to find out how you can support homeless youth
Donating your car to Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio is a great way to help at-risk children in your community. We can sell your car at auction and use the proceeds to benefit children in our housing programs through the Youth Education Center. We'll arrange free same-day towing, and you might even end up making more off of your vehicle as a tax-deductible donation than you would from selling it privately.
Fill out our online car donation form, call 800-862-6030 to donate over the phone, or send the clear title to 5640 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43228.
