Donate Your Car or Your Time

Do you want to make a lifelong impact on someone? We, at Volunteers of America, are excited to meet you. And whether it be through volunteering your time or donating your car, Volunteers of America makes it easy to help others. Let's take a look at some of our great volunteer opportunities, then we'll show you just how easy it is to donate your vehicle in Ohio.

Volunteer opportunities in Ohio

Veteran housewarming kits. Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio serves over 1,500 veterans throughout Ohio each year, and as they move out of shelters and into their own homes they often don't have basic necessities. We need new and used donations of the following in order to assemble housewarming kits for veterans: pots and pans, dishes, kitchen utensils (knives, spoons, forks and serving pieces), small appliances (toaster, microwave, etc.), sheets, pillows, trash cans, comforters and blankets.

Thrift store help. We can always use another set of hands in our thrift stores. You can come help us sort donations, straighten the racks and clean the stores. To apply, drop by or call your nearest thrift store.

Job search assistant. The Employment Resource Center at 624 Harmon Ave., Columbus, helps homeless and previously homeless veterans gain employment. We need your help writing resumes and helping our veterans navigate the Internet as they search for jobs and complete online applications.

Computer lab assistance. The Employment Resource Center is also looking for volunteers to help our homeless veterans find employment and gain computer skills. As a volunteer, you will work one-on-one with our clients in the computer lab to help them search for job postings and fill out applications.

Auto auction detailing. To help support our programs and services, Volunteers of America auctions cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and RVs donated by people like you. You can easily help by donating a couple hours of your time to vacuum and clean our donated vehicles to prepare them for auction. This is a relaxed volunteer effort with no experience necessary–so bring yourself and a friend and let's get to work.

Or, you can donate your vehicle to Volunteers of America of Great Ohio.

If you're short on time but still want to contribute, consider donating your vehicle to Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio. It's quick, hassle-free and you could even receive a higher value for your vehicle as a charitable contribution than you would selling it. We'll take almost anything with a motor, even if it hasn't run in
