Five vehicles you can find at a Volunteers of America Auto Auction in Columbus

A car donation is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support our mission of care and compassion for some of the most vulnerable in our communities.

It's the spark that maintains programs that help everyone from homeless veterans to young offenders trying to become productive members of society and even families in need of shelter.

Your donated vehicle funds our programs via our auto auctions that take place the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in Columbus, Ohio at 5640 W. Broad St. If you've ever wondered what sort of vehicles you can find at our auction, here are five examples from a recent auction. (Keep up with the dates of upcoming auctions and available vehicles at our Auto Auction site.)

1. 2000 Honda Odyssey

Talk about an odyssey. This van has seen it all, logging 348,006 miles in 16 years. It was one of several Honda Odysseys available at a recent auction.

2. 1992 Cadillac DeVille

An American classic. Who hasn't wanted to say they owned a gold Cadillac at some point?

3. 1991 Volvo 240

You can't miss the unmistakable lines of an early '90s Volvo.

4. 2005 Buell Blast

You never know what treasures you may find at our auction. This bike from Buell — the motorcycle company founded by an ex-Harley-Davidson engineer that eventually ended up under the Harley brand — went to auction with just 1,947 miles.

5. 1979 Ford F-150

1979 FORD F-150

The F-150 has been the most popular pickup in America since 1977 and the most popular vehicle overall since 1981. Here's an old-school version your dad would be proud of.

How to participate in the auction

For upcoming auction dates, keep an eye on our Auto Auction site, which will be updated with available vehicles as the auction approaches.

Vehicles are sold "as-is," and you'll need to be at least 18 to bid. You also must register for a bidder's number with the office prior to the auction.

Here's a full list of the rules and regulations of the auction.

How to donate a vehicle to the auction

The above examples are just a few of the kinds of vehicle donations we accept. If you have a car, truck, boat, RV — anything with a motor — you can donate it to Volunteers of America. It's far easier than trying to sell an unused vehicle, and you may even make more from the tax deduction than you would a sale. Even if the car is no longer running, you can still donate it. We'll even arrange free same-day towing.

Starting the process of car donation is quick and easy.

  • Online: Just fill out our online form, and we'll contact you to schedule a convenient pickup time.
  • By phone: Call us at 800-862-6030 to start the donation process.
  • In person: If you're in the Columbus area, you can just drop your car with a clean title at 5640 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, 43228.

We deeply appreciate your vehicle donation. It will help us make a difference in your community.
