Sometimes people make mistakes. And some mistakes early in life can make it more difficult to be successful as an adult. That's where our Face Forward 2 program comes in.
When a young person ends up involved in the juvenile justice system, there can be unintended consequences that extend beyond the initial punishment. Namely, it can be more difficult to find employment. And a job doesn't just help a young person become a more productive member of society; it also helps reduce the chance that a young offender becomes an adult offender.

Through helping young offenders on the road to steady employment, we aren't just helping them. We're helping the Cleveland community at large.
The Face Forward 2 program in Cuyahoga County takes a systematic and personal approach to ensure successful outcomes. Its primary goal is to prevent troubled youth from becoming adult offenders through prevention, assessment, intervention and referral services.
Each year we help more than 100 juveniles find a path to being self-sufficient and productive members of our community through the following:
- Individual case management with weekly one-on-one meetings
- A personalized career-development plan and strategy to apply it
- Training and employment experience for clients age 18 years and older
- Helping to seal or expunge the client's juvenile record
- Learning and mentorships in community businesses
- Development of interpersonal skills and workplace behavior
- Employment incentives and follow-up services for nine months after successful completion of the program
- Evidence-based job readiness training
We carefully select the candidates who will benefit most from the program. They must be between 16 and 21 years of age and currently involved in the juvenile justice system (but with no convictions as an adult). They must also be a candidate for diversion under guidelines for the Ohio Juvenile Diversion Program. Once admitted, each client receives orientation within the first week.
All of this is carefully crafted to make the biggest impact on the young lives that are ready to accept the responsibility and the benefits of the program.
