Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame is accepting nominations until June 30

The nation’s first veterans’ hall of fame is now accepting nominations for its 2013 induction ceremony. Each year, the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame committee chooses up to 20 men and women to recognize and honor their post-military achievements.

The Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame does not honor inductees for their actions during active duty, but rather for continued service and inspiration to their fellow man. Nominations are solicited from citizens throughout Ohio, and the men and women chosen come from all generations, branches of service and walks of life. Past honorees include Presidents, Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and many more.

In 1992, a select panel of representatives from Ohio’s veteran organizations was assembled by former Governor George V. Voinovich to discuss his idea of establishing an Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. The committee supported the proposition as a means of increasing awareness of the lifetime contributions of men and women even after their completion of honorable military service.

If you would like to nominate a veteran for his or her outstanding accomplishments, complete the form on the Ohio Department of Veteran Services website by June 30.
