Random Act of Kindness Day with Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio
A random act of kindness can be a small gesture that brightens someone’s day: a smile, paying for the person behind you, bringing treats for your co-workers. But what about a small act that can truly help someone? With Random Act of Kindness Day this month, it’s time to think outside the box. Here at Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, we rely on the kindness of strangers like you day in and day out to support our crucial services. Your random act of kindness could give someone more than a smile– you could give them hope.
Donate to a food pantry.
There are so many ways to give to Volunteers of America. We provide food to more than 3,000 individuals and families in need throughout Greater Ohio by way of our food pantries each year. To donate food to a Volunteers of America pantry or to hold a food drive, contact the Aurora or Mansfield Food Pantry. Volunteers of America is also able to provide free meals to the public every Thursday evening in Central Park in downtown Mansfield with donations from local restaurants and bakeries. If you are interested in donating to this invaluable program, contact the Mansfield Transitional Housing Program.
Choose a Volunteers of America wish list.
Choosing a wish list for one of our programs is another easy way to contribute to Volunteers of America. Meeting the needs of 16,000 individuals every year is no small feat, so we depend on your generosity and random acts of kindness to provide food, clothing and shelter to our neighbors in need. You could provide a Family Welcome Kit to help ease a family into their new home. In addition, our Youth Education Center provides after school and summer-enrichment programs for homeless children and those in need in Greater Ohio. The Youth Education Center wish list includes personal care items, toys and games, prizes and small equipment for the center and special activities for the children in our programs. You can also round up your friends and neighbors to collect items for the Men’s Personal Care Kits to provide basic supplies for the thousands of men and veterans we serve.
Give a Gift of Warmth.
This time of year, we are in huge need of donations to support homeless men and families on frigid Ohio nights. With your Gift of Warmth donation of new hats, scarves, gloves, coats, socks and/or blankets, you can easily give comfort to those in need this winter.
Help Ohio’s homeless by donating your car or truck.
You can make a huge impact by donating your car, truck, motorcycle, boat or RV to Volunteers of America.
Every tax-deductible car donation to Volunteers of America directly helps so many people in need throughout the Ohio communities we serve. Donating your car is easy. Start by filling out our online form or calling (800) 225-0732. We’ll tow your donated vehicle for free, even if it hasn’t run in years. When you donate your car or truck to Volunteers of America you are directly helping veterans and families here in Central Ohio, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Greater Ohio. Please consider donating your unwanted vehicle to Volunteers of America, and let a random act of kindness change the lives of Ohio’s homeless.
