Thrifted Outfit Ideas For Valentine’s Day
By: Beverly Adams, Ohio style blogger
Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that you will find either people celebrate it or it’s just another day. Whether you choose to celebrate or not, Volunteers of America thrift stores can help you look pulled together without breaking the bank.
Red and pink are the classic colors when it comes to Valentine’s day. I visited the Indianola Avenue and Henderson Road locations to find some outfit ideas. Since each location has fitting rooms, I always make sure to try on my finds before heading out the store. If trying on items while shopping is not your thing and you get home and realize that you just don’t love the items you got, you can always donate them back, which is what I have in done in the past.
Date Night Look
If you plan on heading out for a nice dinner, this black dress ($4.99) paired with a pair of red suede pumps ($3.99) and a leopard print clutch that I already owned was the perfect look. This look is perfect for someone who does not want to stick to the pink and red classics. For less than $9, I got a complete outfit. This dress can also be styled with a turtleneck underneath or you can throw a chunky sweater over it to make it look like a skirt.
Dressed Up Jeans
Not everyone is a fan of dresses, so while I was at the Clintonville location I picked up a new pair of Madewell jeans for $1.99 (NEW!), red turtleneck ($1.50 after discount), and pair of chanel look alike block heels ($1.99). I had to do a double take when I saw the price of the heels.
Dressed Down
After spending some time at the Clintonville location I decided to make my way to the Henderson Road location. I found this red skirt ($4.99), a long-sleeved white t-shirt ($1.99) and a pair of brand new J Crew sneakers ($3.99) that are still being sold in store for over $70. You cannot find any better deals anywhere else.
With each look I styled with one of my black coats that I also picked up from the Clintonville location a year ago for $6.99. The coat is a Calvin Klein coat and retails for a lot more in regular stores.
