World Mental Health Day

Today is World Mental Health Day, a globally recognized effort in raising awareness of mental health issues across the globe. Statistically, one in four people will face mental disorders at some point in their lives. And because Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio works tirelessly to provide care for those with mental disorders, we’d like to take his opportunity to remind you that you can help (by way of a generous car donation).

Why This Day is so Important

Mental health problems can sometimes carry a social stigma. But the truth is: nobody is alone in the fight. As we mentioned earlier, nearly 25% of the world faces mental disorders. That means there are probably several people in your life who are afflicted in some form or another. Awareness is crucial in the advancement of treatment, and World Mental Health Day is the perfect way to start the conversation.

Take Care of our Local Veterans

Everybody needs to be aware of how far-reaching mental health disorders are. Unfortunately, there are many who suffer, and that includes our local veterans. Many of those who have fought to defend our country return with substance abuse issues, PTSD, and other various mental challenges. Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio has a number of veterans’ programs that provide help for those who need it. We offer treatment programs and rehabilitation services to assist with the restoration of self-sufficiency. These programs include evaluations, treatment plans, individual and group therapy and continued support. By making a Columbus car donation, you are directly supporting these programs and doing your part to give back to the community. We are currently the leading human services provider to veterans in the Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland and Dayton metro areas.

Families & Children, Too

While veterans are a big part of our cause, they aren’t the only ones who benefit from your donations. Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio helps families and children in communities all over Ohio. Our programs for youth and families include prevention, early intervention, crisis intervention and long-term services for those experiencing a housing crisis. These programs provide supportive living and learning environments for development and education. Quality care is deserved by all, and your Columbus car donation will go a long way in ensuring those who need counseling have access to it.

It’s Easy to Support the Cause

You might think that donating your automobile is a complicated and stressful process. But at Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, we make the Columbus car donation process as easy as can be. All you need to do is fill out our online form. We’ll come and haul your pre-loved automobile away for free. We happily accept anything with a motor: boats, motorcycles, lawn mowers, and RVs, so clear out your garage and give back to your community. And as an added bonus, you’ll get a healthy tax deduction. So while you give back, you get back. It’s as simple as that!

So many could benefit from our help; a simple auto donation is an excellent way to support those in need on World Mental Health Day.
