A New Home for Vets - Wade Park Domiciliary

On May 16, 2011, Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, in partnership with the Louis Stokes, Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, welcomed over 200 guests to the dedication ceremony of the Veterans Domiciliary at Wade Park in Cleveland. The 122-bed homeless program will provide supportive case management and clinical services to male and female veterans in need.  

Facility
This distinctive 77,000 square-foot, 122-bed facility, located adjacent to the VAMC Wade Park Campus, is designed to provide a safe, secure and unique residence for veterans.  The Veterans Domiciliary at Wade Park includes:
• Single and double rooms, with private, in suite bathrooms, many of which are handicapped accessible
• Meeting space to accommodate a wide range of groups and activities
• Recreation space including an exercise room and multipurpose room that will have space for art and music therapy
• 30 staff offices located throughout the facility
• Multiple lounges and quiet space within the facility for social interaction and mutual support

Residents
The Veterans Domiciliary at Wade Park provides care to eligible male and female veterans who have a range of psychiatric, vocational, educational and social care needs.  A minimum of 14 beds are set aside for female veterans with a maximum capacity of 26.  Homeless veterans make up a significant portion of the clients served. Veterans are eligible to receive services for up to six (6) months.
