Get Your Tax Deductible Donations in Before the End of the Year

Donate your unused vehicle to our charitable auto auction in Columbus, Ohio

Every year, hundreds of unused vehicles sit outside in the snow, or gather dust in the garage. Their owners have the best intentions--to either fix them up one day or to sell them via a classified ad. However, selling (and especially fixing) a vehicle takes a lot of time that most people just don’t have.

The result is a vehicle that slowly depreciates in value as it gets older, and only serves as a constant nagging reminder to the owner that their plans for the vehicle aren’t being realized.

Why donate your vehicle?

Throughout the year, we’re always urging people to donate their unused vehicles to Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, and with good reason. While unused motorcycles, boats, trucks, and even tractors sit around collecting rust, they could be donated and used to help the less fortunate get the care and shelter they need.

What’s more, some vehicles end up being worth more as a tax-deductible donations than they would be if sold privately.

What will we use your vehicle for?

When you donate your vehicle to Volunteers of America, it travels to an auction where it’s sold to the highest bidder. From there, 100 percent of the profits from your vehicle go towards our services aimed at helping the homeless and those in need, such as:

  • Supportive housing - Affordable and supportive housing serves as the foundation of helping the homeless off the streets and back into productive society. Your vehicle can help us fund our supportive housing programs across the Greater Ohio area.
  • Community programs - Some of our most important functions are the services we provide to low-income and homeless families and individuals in the community, such as education, shelter, and meal programs.
  • Veterans programs - One out of every five homeless adults is a veteran. Our veteran treatment programs, emergency housing, and employment opportunity services serve to help those who have proudly served our country get off the streets and back to a productive, healthy life.

The deadline is approaching

The longer you wait to donate your vehicle, the less your vehicle is worth. And, if you’d like your vehicle to serve as a deduction on your 2014 taxes, you need to donate it before Wednesday, December 31.

If you have an extra vehicle sitting around that’s just taking up space, running or not, please donate it to Volunteers of America. We’ll arrange free same-day towing to pick it up, and you can rest easy knowing that what used to be an eyesore in your driveway will instead be used to help homeless individuals, families, and veterans this holiday season.
