Help Volunteers of America of Ohio win $250,000 for homeless female vets

Home Depot’s Aprons in Action offers veteran nonprofit partners the chance to rebuild lives

Join Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio in our goal to secure a $250,000 Aprons in Action grant from the Home Depot® All we need is your vote to win.

Home Depot will decide which veterans’ nonprofit partner will receive funding based on your votes. Voting opens May 1 and lasts through May 31. You’ll have the opportunity to vote once per day.

With enough votes, Volunteers of America will build Home for the Brave housing for homeless female veterans and add learning, technology and activity space at our existing Veterans Resource Center facilities to help alleviate suffering while promoting emotional healing.

Home for the Brave programs provide temporary housing, job services, mental health and post traumatic stress disorder treatment to help our heroes regain their independence at no cost.

Volunteers of America won a shot at the $250,000 grand prize in June when we were voted to the top of the monthly competition of $25,000. With the initial prize, we were able to fund our proposed project to serve alongside Team Depot volunteers to renovate one of the Volunteers of America Veterans Resource Centers. During the renovation, we updated the kitchen, painted the bedrooms and created a veterans memorial garden with an outdoor pavilion.
