In the Land of the Free, a Home for the Brave
Representatives of Federal Home Loan Bank, Huntington and local Congressional Offices join Volunteers of America President and CEO, Dennis Kresak for a photo.
An open house was held at the Columbus Veterans Resource Center to celebrate the completion of $1.3 million in renovations and construction that began more than a year ago. Guests attended a brief program with remarks from Dennis Kresak, president and CEO of Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, as well as representatives from the project's funders, Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati and Huntington Bank, followed by tours of the veterans' new living space.
The construction added a total of 4,070 square feet to the previous 12,817 foot facility. The additional space is broken down into living (1,203 square feet) and office (2,561 square feet) areas. The living area features (24) 8'x10' double bedrooms and two 17'x24' five-bed dorm rooms. This provides for significantly improved privacy for veteran residents. The office space allowed employment program staff to move on site, improving accessibility to veteran clients.
