New grant a huge win for homeless Ohio heroes
Volunteers of America is one Ohio charity changing veterans lives
We are thrilled to announce Veterans and Families First, a new program that will strengthen the existing veterans services at Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio. Funding for the program, in the amount of $1.25 million, from the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will provide for intensive case management to veteran families with significantly low income to help them maintain housing and avoid homelessness. Services are slated to begin in October of 2013.
As a grant recipient, Volunteers of America will provide eligible veteran families with outreach, case management and assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits. Services may include health care, daily living, personal financial planning, transportation, legal, childcare, housing counseling, and fiduciary and payee services.
