Veteran’s Employment Stand Down
Support Cleveland’s Unemployed Veterans
Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio is assisting with the organization of the Veteran’s Employment Stand Down in Cleveland on May 20 in an effort to provide employment resources to veterans. The focus of the event, held at the US Veteran’s Affairs Office at 10701 East Boulevard, is to help veterans obtain and maintain employment.
This partnership between The Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Catholic Charities Diocese of Cleveland and the Office of Veterans Affairs seeks to address the needs of individual veterans and plant the seeds for a secure future. The stand down will provide advice and planning, employment connections, legal services, health screenings, community resources, interview clothing and benefits information.
At Volunteers of America, we also provide job training to homeless men and veterans through our Job Readiness and Training programs. Because homelessness can often be traced back to unemployment, we equip our clients with the skills to achieve self-sufficiency through long-term employment. Our Veterans Reintegration Program provides job-readiness skill development; resume writing; job search, placement and coaching; transportation assistance and referrals to community resources.
