Where can I donate my clothes?
If you've got clothing you no longer wear, housewares you no longer use, and more, we are happy to take your donations. We have thrift stores and drop-off locations all over Ohio. Click here to see our complete list of locations.
You can drop off items at our thrift stores during regular store hours or donate items after hours by putting them in one of our donation drop boxes.
Can I get a tax write-off for my thrift store donations?
Yes, you can! All donations (in good condition) are tax-deductible. For your records, the Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana's Employer Identification Number (EIN) is
Will you give me a tax receipt?
Of course. We are happy to give you a tax receipt. It will be a blank receipt that is stamped with our information. Our signature is not required. You are welcome to fill out your information at the top of the receipt and write down what you donated. We are not able to evaluate or estimate the value of donations. If you have questions about how to evaluate your stuff or what dollar amount your stuff is worth, please look at the evaluation guide at IRS.gov
If one of our friendly truck drivers picks up your donations and forgets to leave a receipt, please call or email us and we'll be happy to send you a receipt.
What kinds of thrift store donations will you accept?
We accept most used clothing and household wares that are in good condition. That includes, but is not exclusive to, the items on the list below. If you have any questions, call our donation line at

- Bicycles (tires must be pumped up)

- Computers (preferably a complete set no more than 3 years old including monitor, processor/tower and keyboard)

- Electric dryers
- Electric stoves
- Exercise Equipment (Bicycle, treadmill, gazelle, row machines, stair steppers)

**Please note: We do not accept items that need repair or major cleaning.
Lawnmowers must have the gas tanks emptied. Riding mowers must have inflated tires.
Will you remove items from my basement or go upstairs?
For safety reasons, our employees are not allowed to go up or down any stairs to access donations. All donations must be on the first floor or placed outside the home in a clearly marked bag.
What cities do you pick up donations in?
We are happy to pick up donations in central Ohio. We can pick up donations at your home in Bexley, Blacklick, Brice, Canal Winchester, Columbus, Delaware, Dublin, Gahanna, Galena, Galloway, German Village, Grandview, Granville, Grove City, Groveport, Heath, Hilliard, Lewis Center, Minerva Lake, New Albany, Newark, Pataskala, Pickerington, Plain City, Polaris, Powell, Reynoldsburg, Upper Arlington, Westerville, Whitehall, and Worthington.
We pick up donations in the Cleveland area in Avon Lake, Bay Village, Bedford, Beechwood, Berea, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Brook Park, Brunswick, Chagrin, Chagrin Falls, Cleveland, Fairview Park, Garfield, Hinckley, Hudson, Independence, Lakewood, Macedonia, Maple Heights, Middleburg Heights, North Olmsted, North Ridgeville, North Royalton, Northfield, Olmstead Falls, Parma Heights, Pepper Pike, Richfield, Rocky River, Shaker Heights, Short Line Junction, Solon, South Brooklyn, South Euclid, Stow, Streetsboro, Strongsville, Twinsburg, University Heights, Warrensville, Westlake, and Westpark.
We also pick up donations in the Mansfield area in Ashland, Bellville, Galion, Loudonville, Lucas, Mansfield, Mount Gilead, North Bloomfield, Ontario, Shelby, Troy, and Wooster.
Where should I put my items to be picked up?
When setting out items to be picked up at your home, please be sure your items are visible for our drivers. You may leave the items on your front porch, the curb, in the grass, or any other spot where the bags are clearly visible.
